5G-IA and 5G PPP attending the 4th Global 5G Event “5G, Accelerating the 4th Industrial Revolution”

Seoul, South Korea – November 22nd, 2017 – The 5G Infrastructure Association (5G-IA) and the 5G Public Private Partnership (5G PPP) will be attending the Global 5G Event – “5G, Accelerating the 4th Industrial Revolution” – taking place on 22-24 November in Seoul, South Korea, just a few months before the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang. The biannual Global 5G Event is the leading venue for the discussion of next-generation 5G communications technology, and hosts the global  leaders of the field as they work together to develop, standardize and experiment the next generation of new mobile communications infrastructure.

With major players attending from the IoT/Cloud/Big Data/Mobile fields, industry, academic research institutions, leading manufacturers and service providers, the Global 5G Event will offer spirited discussions and insight into the future of 5G development and planned deployments. As part of this agenda, the 5G-IA will participate in several sessions.

On the morning of the first day, Colin Willcock, Chair of the 5G-IA, is speaking in the 5G Trends and Promotion session, which aims to discuss the industrial views and 5G activities of each MoU signatory. This is followed in the afternoon by Uwe Herzog, representing the 5G-IA in the 5G Deployment and Service Provisioning panel discussion on operators’ activities on 5G deployment and service implementation and provisioning, and by Didier Bourse, Chair of the 5G-IA Trials WG, in the panel on Proof of Concept Trial and Solutions for 5G Services and Technologies.

“I’m really looking forward to the Seoul event,” said Colin. “This is an excellent opportunity for us to meet with our colleagues and stakeholders in the field and work together toward creating the best global 5G ecosystem possible.”

Day 2 is also quite busy, with Jean-Pierre Bienaimé, Secretary General of the 5G-IA, presenting on the Requirements and Expectations of Verticals and Eco-Industries in the first session of the day. Following this, Jean-Pierre is  also moderating the first special session on Cross-Regional Activities for 5G, as voluntary signatories from China, Korea, Japan, Brazil and Europe, the latter being represented by Emilio Calvanese Strinati, discuss 5G activities worldwide and how cross regional activities and projects could be introduced.
